Tough Eddie

This episode description from the CTW archives mentions a character named Tough Eddie. I've never heard of him, and I don't know if he's a Muppet or a human. (Although I would assume only a Muppet could act the way that Tough Eddie acts; a human character doing that would be kind of threatening and disturbing.) Has anybody heard of him before? -- Danny (talk) 11:55, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

There's a Muppet named Tough Eddie, performed by Jerry Nelson, in an Ernie and Bert beach skit. His behavior is almost identical to this one, as he knocks over Bert's sand castle, boasts of being tough, and says Ernie should tell Bert he has "something for him." In areversal similar to the Sinister Sam skits, it turns out Tough Eddie bought Bert an ice cream cone as an apology. So it's an assumption, but I suspect these are probably the same character. There's a YouTube clip of the beach skit, for image grabbing and so on: (YouTube) -- Andrew Leal (talk) 14:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
That's it, that must be the guy! -- Danny (talk) 14:34, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I have a couple of episodes from the early 80s with Tough Eddie performed by Richard Hunt in street scenes, including one where he refuses to play with the new kid in town. He should probably have his own page eventually... I'd screencap him myself, but I don't currently have access to the required equipment. -- Ryan (talk) 17:48, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I think that one of the Ernie and Bert sketch pages has a picture of him. --Minor muppetz 02:16, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Fantastic, I created a Tough Eddie page. Was Richard Hunt around in Season 3, or was this early appearance somebody else? -- Danny (talk) 02:34, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
As noted in my first post, and demonstrated in the clip, Jerry Nelson performed him in the Ernie and Bert sketch. So it seems reasonable to assume that he probably did so in the street scenes, until such time as we find evidence to the contrary. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 02:41, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
