Great Muppet Caper?
- It's true. He has a silent part in the "Happiness Hotel" number. I believe there's a a shot of him in here (dial-up's not letting pictures load today). Andrew Leal (talk) 20:24, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
The claim keeps popping up that Louise Gold performed Harry in his non-speaking appearance at the opening of episode 221. Is there any actual source for this? Andrew Leal (talk) 22:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
What's the source on Crazy Harry being based on Don Sahlin? -- Danny Toughpigs 04:00, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- You know, that's one of those bits of Muppet lore which one seems to have heard and read everywhere, yet when pressed, one finds it hard to locate a source! It is widely confirmed that the character was originally called Crazy Donald, and both p 27 of Jim Henson: The Works and p. 50 of Jim Henson's Designs and Doodles mention Don Sahlin's practical jokes, especially how he would "rig detonators to explode in their desks" (The Works). Doodles specifies that a minor explosion rigged by Don blew up Dave Goelz' desk. All of which seems good evidence to conjecture that indeed Harry was inspired by Don, but I've yet to come across a flat out statement (though I could swear I'd read one at some point). I'll keep digging at it as time allows. --Andrew, Aleal 04:19, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, I forgot that he was originally called Crazy Donald -- that makes more sense, then. Still, it would be nice to have a source. -- Danny Toughpigs 04:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- One of the last questions in the Ask henson.com section of henson.com was about who each musician was based on, and it said that most musicians aren't based on any specific person, and that muppets are rarely based on any specific person, and in the few cases where they are based on a real person, it's usually somebody in the henson staff, and as an example given of a muppet being based on somebody in the staff, it said that Crazy Harry was based on Don Shalin. --Minor muppetz 04:59, 28 January 2006 (UTC),
