What's the source on Joey Mazzarino creating this character before joining the Muppets? -- Danny Toughpigs 04:15, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the page on Joey Mazzarino contains this sentence: "He wrote his first sketch for the show, the Columbo parody Colambo, as an audition piece, and soon found himself cast in the title role. He has been a mainstay on the show ever since." Which jibes with this page, but there's no stated source for the Mazzarino page's lead text either. I *have* read assorted blurbs and such which basically say that he wrote many (possibly all) of the Colambo skits (the one with Kevin Kline as "Nick Chicken" is often mentioned), so he may indeed have conceived the character, and was then given a puppet to match it, but there's no hard facts as of yet. --Andrew, Aleal 03:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- A quick check of the page histories suggests that Kynan added the Mazzarino paragraph, and that later Scooter added the information here. They both usually seem to know what they're talking about. Perhaps they can enlighten us. As I've been discussing with Scott re a statement on Scooter, and as has come up in discussions of Crazy Harry and Bunsen Honeydew, unsourced info on character origins always tends to raise a red flag. --Andrew, Aleal 03:28, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- That the Colambo script was Joey's audition piece came from the horse's (sheep's) mouth. Which I guess technically means he created the character before he joined the Muppets, but not really. I'd change it. --KB, User:TV's KB
- Are we sure that Mazzarino is even the one who performed Colambo? I thought that he was performed by Kevin Clash. I recall hearing Colambo talk with a Benny Rabbit-like voice, and I think Sesame Street Unpaved even lists Clash as the performer. --Minor muppetz 14:40, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Joes does indeed play Colambo. Scooter 15:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
