Thoughts[]

What are people's thoughts on merging Character name origins, Muppets named after their performers, Kermit's Name, Fozzie's Name, and Characters Whose Names Are Puns into one page. -- Brad D. (talk) 16:48, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

That would be a very good idea, Brad D., but I'd vote to also merge Are Bert and Ernie named after characters from It's a Wonderful Life? into that one page, too. -- Max (talk) 22:26, October 30, 2010 (UTC)
Mixed feelings on the former and a definite no to Max's suggestion, since it's a rumor page and distinctly different from the others. Kermit and Fozzie are also rumor pages but more closely aligned and not as commonplace as rumors (that is, they crop up on a narrower level, the more in-depth Henson articles and tributes and trivia, compared to the Bert and Ernie rumor). However, merging origins, performer naming (which is basically origins) and puns makes sense. Really, those first three meatier sections just make the rest, in list format, look pitiful. I definitely think Bert and Ernie, for Google searching and linking, needs to be kept solo, but I might be open re Fozzie and Kermit only if more origins could be beefed up so it doesn't look so lopsided, like lists crammed in with actual articles (which really is what it is right now). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:16, October 30, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you on Bert & Ernie. And I see your point on Kermit and Fozzie - they don't really fit in with the list format. Kermit's namesake is a minor rumor (the childhood friend story ocasionally pops up). I would be fine leaving that article as a stand alone. But the Fozzie one is just an assumption/misconception with our article based solely on two Ask Henson.com answers (has it ever actually been reported anywhere that Fozzie was named after Oz?) Maybe it would just be best to merge those two Fozzie quotes into the Fozzie Bear article. -- Brad D. (talk) 16:10, November 4, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Andrew. -- Scott 20:08, November 4, 2010 (UTC)
