Warrick is just pointing out the fact that Catgut, in the original special, is distinctly female. Like many recycled characters, that doesn't always come through. And yeah, in the first season, like when singing to Lassie's picture, Catgut looks more like a cleaned-up, refurbished version of the current picture.
