I keep finding in the NHK guides that when Alphabet Bates appears, it starts from a street story, and a cast member will look up and say they see him. I was hesitant to put an eka on the sketches b/c of this, but i guess that is all in the intro. Because they really don't see him there, they must just have to use a letter which that cast member recorded with kids trying to guess the letter. So first of all, if this is how they're usually introduced, i don't see the point in listing episodes in which he is mentioned by name (except that one where it's a reference rather than an intro to his clip). Also, does this mean every time he draws a Q it's with Susan's voiceover? I've never actually seen one, so I don't really know. - Kate 13:43, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
- That would be about right. Usually a cast member would alert the kids, and then we'd see a film of the given letter being "skywritten". During the film, we'd hear the kids guess what the letter was going to be (presumably along with the kids at home). This happened on Episode 0054, shown on Noggin, although in this example AB was not referred to by name. Perhaps in the first season there hadn't been a name designated for him yet. Hope that helps! --Dave Splurge 21:48, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
