List, Category or both?Edit

We have Aliens and Category:Aliens. The both serve the same purpose - listing alien characters. It seems repetitive to have both (and due to poor maintenance some aliens are in one and not the other). Do we need both a list and a category? -- Brad D. (talk) 07:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

See here for this exact discussion when Joe created the category (and Category:Robots). If anything, though, I'm against deleting the list. As I noted at the time, the big advantage of a list is it can group examples and list characters that don't necessarily have or need solo pages, which can't be done at all in a category. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 15:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Aha, I understand. Well, the category and list need some clean up as there are aliens on the list that are not in the category and ones in the category not on the list. -- Brad D. (talk) 06:12, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
