Elmo in Grouchland
I've never seen The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland but was wondering if it had any relation to the Alice in Wonderland story. I know it's not a retelling in the way Abby in Wonderland is, but it does have Elmo falling down a hole, ending up in a weird world, a Queen and a Caterpillar. Several reviews mentioned the parallel, so I was just wondering if this should be counted as a reference or not. -- Peter (talk) 15:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds like a commentator could make a case for it, but I don't know if there's a source saying it was intentional. —Scott (talk) 23:05, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- There's no source, and it's pretty coincidental (the plot itself has far more comparisons to The Wizard of Oz). So it's not really notable. Googling shows very few reviews actually mention it (I found one from a published review and maybe three or four fan/user comment references, and other just random listings of the pair), and about as many mention Oz. I have a copy of the production notes, with no mention of Wonderland and only a passing reference to Oz (re the Grouch Mayor being visually based on both Groucho Marx and the Munchkin Mayor). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:56, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
