Remote control[]

The Judy Sladky article says that Alice's eyes and mouth are operated from within the puppet. The Alice Snuffleupagus article says they're remote-controlled. Which is it? -- Peter (talk) 17:13, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

I'll double check the articles I used for Sladky's page, but I think it's just imprecise wording. What I'd gathered from my research was that those were remote controlled, but were operated by Sladky with a headpiece device or something *within* the suit, as opposed to a seperate face performer like with the Gorgs. Ah. I'd added the thing about the second performer, because I thought it would be clearer than the former wording, which I interpreted to be like the Gorg/Dinosaurs face puppeteering. Sorry about that, but could you double check anyway, and then we can be specific? -- Peter (talk) 17:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Reopening this old discussion. There was apparently two "technicians" who would do this, at least as of when they were screen testing Alice. Do we go with this account? Also, does unaired improvisation count? Alice claims in the screen test that it takes her six days to walk from her cave to Sesame Street. -- Zanimum 18:20, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
As far as improv, yeah, it's not canon, but it could be a cute trivia note. As far as the performance aspect, I double checked, seems my original post used Sesame Street Unpaved as the source, noting that she is "worked by a single puppeteer -- Judy Sladky," but also that "Her eyes and mouth are remote controlled, as Judy uses her arms and legs to work Alice's legs." The wording is ambiguous, and as seen above, it sounded more like the same method they used later for Bear and so on, with a headband or similar device inside. The New York Magazine article is a better source than Unpaved on this one (more clearly written, better sourced with specifics), though, so switching to that, perhaps with a time qualifier (it's quite possible they gave her a tech upgrade later), makes sense. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:31, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
