Talk:Episode 501: Gene Kelly

A weird irony
Edit
I was contemplating this but there does seem to be a strange connection between how Gene is portrayed in this episode as well as his usage in the same year in the film Xanadu as a man who wishes to sort of ignore his past but ultimately come to embrace (or confront) it. Considering both strangely homage Kelly's work and came out around the same time, I do wonder if it was irony...or playing off one another. -StrangerAtaru 03:25, August 19, 2010 (UTC)
episode order
Edit
I just double-checked with The Muppet Show Newsletter, and Vol. 2 No. 6 says that Gene Kelly was the last show taped, and mentions the "end of the world" plot. So how is his episode Show# 501, and Roger Moore is Show# 524? I guess what I'm also asking is what are our sources for show numbers, and is the newsletter wrong? -- Ken (talk) 04:43, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- The episode numbers were posted on the old Henson.com which can't be accessed right now since archive.org seems to be down. —Scott (talk) 05:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Last show?
Edit
So, this was not the last one taped, right? It was Roger Moore as far as I know, and this one was meant to air last. Is that right? Scooter 18:20, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, it's a bit confusing. I don't really know the answer. It seems like tapping order and production order are different. Every official episode listing I've seen (including one that was at the official Jim Henson Company website) list this as the first episode of the last season, but I've also seen sources (including The Muppet Show Fan Club newsletter) that mention this as the last one tapped. And since the show was syndicated, the airing order was not the same in every city. --Minor muppetz 02:27, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
