T.J. Bearytales is a plush toy introduced in Fall 2006 by Playskool (a division of Hasbro). Theodore James Bearytales -- "but you can call me T.J." -- is a friendly bear who loves to tell stories and play with preschoolers.
The toy is sold with book/cartridge sets. When a cartridge is loaded, T.J. comes to life, greeting the child and telling the story. The toy's arms, eyes, ears and mouth move in sync with the audio. Each story includes songs, guessing games and other activities.
Playskool has partnered with The Jim Henson Company to produce two 3-D animated videos based on T.J. Bearytales. The videos will be musical comedy adventure stories. The production will use the Henson Digital Performance Studio, the Company’s animation system that allows CG characters to be performed by puppeteers in real-time.
