Svenska Sesam was the second Swedish version of Sesame Street. As a replacement for Sesam, the 1976 Swedish dub of the American version, the Swedes produced 30 episodes on their own localized series in 1981-1982. The show took place behind the scenes of "Gala teatern" (a theater) and had Swedish live actors, but no new puppet characters. Puppet sketches were used from the American episodes.
The show was written by Birgitta Götestan and Peter Flack, who made appearances on the show from time to time. The show also featured two Swedish cartoon characters, Hansson (the parrot) and Fia Jansson (the hippopotamus), created by Owe Gustafson.
