Sundance is a lion who first appeared in The Muppet Show episode 320, where he fought Sylvester Stallone and sang "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" with him. He appeared as a Full-Bodied Muppet in this episode and was performed by Dave Goelz.
His name comes from episode 416, when he teamed up with a tiger as "Butch and Sundance", running away from an animal training act (in a reference to the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). He later appeared in episode 505. In these fourth and fifth season episodes, he appeared as a Live-hand Muppet and was performed by Jerry Nelson.
He also appeared in The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years, sitting with Behemoth, Doglion, Fletcher Bird, and Sweetums.
