"Silent Night" is a traditional Christmas carol, originally written in German as "Stille Nacht". On the album A Christmas Together, John Denver and the Muppet cast sing the song in both English and German. During a quiet interlude, Denver relates the story of how Josef Mohr, an Austrian priest, asked his organist, Franz Gruber, to set a poem he had written to music for voice and guitar, as the church organ was broken and they needed music for the Christmas service.
