Shadow
From Muppet Wiki
Shadow is a playful, sentient shadow on Bear in the Big Blue House. In most episodes, she tells a story, sometimes partly in song. Occasionally, she will sing a full-on song.
She is a whimsical creature possessing a quirky nature who sings stories and rhymes using the medium of shadow puppetry to illustrate the story. Her melodies are often modal giving them a unique position in the medium of children's TV.
When it's time for Shadow to make her appearance in an episode, she will usually signal her presence with her musical laugh. Bear (with the help of the viewers) tries to find her by singing her song --- "Where, oh where, oh where is Shadow?" This never seems to work, though, so Bear has to shout "Shadow!" in order to get her to appear. She has a short Irish musical theme associated with her and speaks with an Irish accent.
Shadow's appearances are less frequent in the fourth season of the show.
The shadow puppet segments that accompany Shadow's stories are written, designed, and performed by Jon Ludwig.
