Sergeant Gabriel works alongside Provenza, Lieutenant Tao and "The Closer" at the L.A.P.D. in a Sesame Street sketch parodying The Closer.

When the chief claims her staff can't go home until all the cases are closed, Gabriel protests that they have solved all the cases. The chief points out an open pencil case on the desk and accuses him of leaving it open. Gabriel shows he needed a pencil to do his work and the pencil case becomes closed.

He is a caricature of David Gabriel, played by Corey Reynolds on The Closer.
