The curriculum for Season 24 is focusing on Latino culture. "There will also be more emphasis on the Spanish language," says Ms. [Valeria Lovelace], since her research showed that many children have negative feelings about Spanish. For example, the show will feature songs with abierto and cerrado, the Spanish words for open and close. Preschoolers will learn simple words and phrases that will help them make friends with Spanish speakers. The show will also feature Latino guest stars.<ref name="The Baltimore Sun">The Baltimore Sun: [http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/baltsun/access/113520922.html?dids=113520922:113520922&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Nov+09%2C+1992&author=&pub=The+Sun&desc=Sesame+Street%27+celebrates+Latino+culture&pqatl=google Sesame Street' celebrates Latino culture]</ref>

Notes

  • Starting with this season, the opening sequence has changed from the standard footage of kids playing, to an upbeat, colorful sequence with a calypso version of the theme, and more Muppets in it. The "dancing city" closing credits are also introduced, which would continue to be used until 2007, even long after the calypso opening sequence had been retired. Monsterpiece Theater and The Adventures of Super Grover also received new title sequences.
  • This was the first season taped at Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York.
  • The street scenes in some of episodes from this season were recorded at Teletape before Reeves Entertainment's bankruptcy.
  • Starting this season, an instrumental riff from this season's closing sequence plays during the funding credits until 1995.
