Scratching the Surface: A Hasty Examination of the Making of The Muppets is a 16-minute featurette produced for The Muppets Blu-ray release.

G., Jason Segel, Fozzie Bear, Rashida Jones, John Krasinski, Kathy Griffin, Lew Zealand, Sterling Knight, Sarah Hyland, Ken Jeong, Neil Patrick Harris, Kristen Schaal, Selena Gomez, Rob Corddry, Wanda Sykes, James Bobin, James Bobin Muppet, Droop, Martin G. Baker, Walter, Amy Adams, Kermit the Frog, Scooter, Uncle Deadly, Emily Blunt, and Whoopi Goldberg.

The documentary is modeled after The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Footage of Miss Piggy in her trailer was used amongst theatrical footage in a promotional video spoofing The Hunger Games for the home video release.
