A rooster with black and brown feathers has appeared in multiple Sesame Street segments as early as the 1990s, most notably in the "Monsterpiece Theater" skit The Sun Also Rises. In the insert, he could not crow due to a bad cough. Because of this, a farmer's daughter (Merry Monster) tells her father (played by Grover) that even if the rooster cannot crow, the sun still rises.

Since he is an AM rooster, multiple people have performed him. Performers include Kevin Clash (for the Monsterpiece Theater sketch), Jerry Nelson ("Barnyard Rap"), Joey Mazzarino, David Rudman, and Martin P. Robinson. He was also used as Henny Drummschtick.
