Ron Howard (b. 1954) is an Academy Award-winning motion picture director and former child/youth actor. Transitioning from such roles as the lisping brother in The Music Man and Opie on The Andy Griffith Show (co-starring Don Knotts), Howard starred as Richie Cunningham on the television series Happy Days. He appeared in character as Richie, opposite Henry Winkler (as the Fonz), in an alphabet reciting skit on Sesame Street.
In recent years, in addition to directing such acclaimed films as A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man, Howard has guest starred as himself on The Simpsons and provided tongue-in-cheek narration on the sitcom Arrested Development (starring Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jessica Walter), which he executive produced.
His production company (Imagine Entertainment) produced several Frank Oz films (such as HouseSitter and Bowfinger)
