Robert MacNeil (b. 1931) is a newscaster and former co-host of the PBS series The Robert MacNeil Report which later became The MacNeil-Lehrer Report and then The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour. He appeared as himself, interviewing Cookie Monster and Kermit the Frog about "Cookiegate" in Sesame Street, Special, interviewed Oscar the Grouch about his ice cream business in another segment (scripted in Sesame Street Unpaved), interviewed Big Bird and Telly about the word "abierto," and also had a cameo in the celebrity version of "Monster in the Mirror", and the 2nd celebrity version of "Put Down the Duckie". In October 1995, Robert MacNeil retired.

MacNeil later appeared on Sesame Street in Episode 3740 as a special correspondent to Kermit the Frog. He covered the first WASA landing on the moon for Sesame Street News, much to Kermit's chagrin.
