The Renault Clio is a supermini vehicle produced by the French automaker Renault. Originally launched in 1990, the current model is Clio III.

In 2003, a commercial aimed at the UK markets was filmed, featuring soccer player Thierry Henry and Animal. It screened in cinemas in mid-November 2003 before airing on television. The 38-second spot, which is black and white apart from color effects, featured Henry stressing how the new Clio has "va va voom." The spot culminated in Henry practicing drums in a club, only to be interrupted by an energetic Animal.

  The appearance of Animal provides the ‘unexpected’, and definitely adds to the overall appeal of the ad. We needed a well-known drummer for the twist in the ad, and Animal was the perfect choice as he’s a bit of a rebel.  

Animal was puppeteered by Nigel Plaskitt, with assistance from Mak Wilson.
