Purple Rain Man is a big fan of The Artist Formerly Known as Prince. Big fan, definitely a big fan.

He appeared in episode 201 of Muppets Tonight. Definitely 201.

His name is a reference to Prince's album, Purple Rain, which defeated the soundtrack to The Muppets Take Manhattan for the Academy Award in 1985. 1985, definitely 1985.

He is also a parody of Dustin Hoffman's titular character in the film Rain Man. Definitely titular.
