"Purple Haze" is a song made famous by Jimi Hendrix, reaching number three on the UK charts. One of its lyrics, "'scuse me, while I kiss the sky" has been widely misheard as "while I kiss this guy."

B.P. Richfield performed it in the Dinosaurs episode "A New Leaf."

A portion of the tune was also performed by a member of the Kronos Quartet on Sesame Street.
