Porcupines are large rodents with sharp quills on their backs, which are used as a defense against meat-eating animals. Several porcupines have popped up in Muppet productions.

An orange porcupine with light brown quills and a black nose appears in the Sesame Street story "The King Banishes the Letter P."

A dark brown porcupine helped Joel McHale demonstrate the word "prickly" in a Word of the Day segment from Season 42 of Sesame Street.
