Pops
From Muppet Wiki
Pops is the stage doorman for the Muppet Theater. He's supposed to greet the guests when they first arrive -- though the forgetful Pops invariably needs to ask "Who're you?" in his slight country accent.
Pops was first introduced during the fifth season of The Muppet Show. Pops opened every show of the fifth season, as opposed to Scooter talking to the guests, which opened Seasons 2 through 4. (No opening was used before the credits during Season 1.)
Pops appeared about three times onstage, one: in the Señor Wences episode, he appeared in a song and dance number with Pinocchio, two: he appeared with Fozzie in the song, "In Love With Amy" in a UK spot for Episode 512: Melissa Manchester, and three: he appeared in a sketch where Professor Salamander hypnotized him in Episode 520: Wally Boag. His most famous role was as the owner of the Happiness Hotel in The Great Muppet Caper. He also appeared briefly at the end of the "Scrooge" musical number in The Muppet Christmas Carol.
After that, Pops wasn't seen for a decade. In Muppets Tonight, the greeter at the door -- and also security for the TV studio -- was Bobo the Bear.
However, when the Muppet Theater re-opened in It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, Pops was back on hand selling tickets.
