Pierre Blue, a resident of Paris, France, appeared on the Sesame Street game show The Crying Game, hosted by Sonny Friendly. When introducing him, Sonny first calls him Gordon Bleu (a pun on Le Cordon Bleu), but calls him Pierre for the rest of the sketch.

Sonny proceeds to tell Pierre a sad story regarding what would have happened if Pierre was having breakfast at his favorite bistro and ordered cereal, orange juice, and a croissant, only to learn that they were out of croissants. The very thought causes Pierre to erupt in tears, remarking, "Are we not civilized!?"
