Phyllida Law

Phyllida Law (b. 1932) is a Scottish actress who played Mrs. Coogan in the 2005 Creature Shop-effects film Mee-Shee: The Water Giant.
The mother of actress Emma Thompson, Law has frequently performed with her daughter on film, in Peter's Friends, Much Ado About Nothing, Junior, The Blue Boy, and Nanny McPhee (in a vocal cameo).
Law has been active in British television since the 1960s, appearing on Dixon of Dock Green, Jackanory, Upstairs, Downstairs, Rumpole of the Bailey, Poirot, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Waking the Dead, and Kingdom (recurring as Aunt Aurelia). Film credits include Emma (as Mrs. Bates, opposite her other daughter, Sophie Thompson), Anna Karenina, Hitler: The Last Ten Days, the 2002 version of The Time Machine, Saving Grace (with Brenda Blethyn), and Copying Beethoven.
Law recently appeared in the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, playing Bea Nelson-Stanley in the adventure "Eye of the Gorgon".
