Peter Pan Records was a record label with roots going back to the 1920's. Originally a company that manufactured various plastic items, by the 1940's they were pressing children's records, and by the 1950's were well-known for their series of fairy tales and cover songs of material on other labels (such as songs from Disney films).

In 1970, with the huge popularity of Sesame Street, Peter Pan became one of the first children's record labels to issue cover albums and singles of songs from the show. While other children's record labels would also issue cover records, by the end of the 1970's, Peter Pan would issue the most "sound-alike" songs from Sesame Street of any label in history. Their later releases also included material from The Muppet Show and The Muppet Movie.
