Peterdavison-O2

Peter Davison (b. 1951) is a British actor best known for playing the Fifth Doctor on Doctor Who from 1981 to 1984. He reprised the role in a "Pigs in Space" sketch for the 2018 live show The Muppets Take the O2 (on Saturday; on Friday, the part was filled by fellow Who actor and son-in-law David Tennant). Davison also participated in the show's performance of "Rainbow Connection" for the finale.

Davison first gained TV fame as feckless young vet Tristan Farnon on All Creatures Great and Small beginning in 1978. While his Doctor Who stint was an interruption, he still appeared in between-season specials and returned regularly from 1988 until the series end in 1990. He made a cameo as the Dish of the Day in the BBC TV version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and starred on sitcoms such as Sink or Swim. Post-Who leading roles included Campion (based on the Margery Allingham books) and Detective Constable "Dangerous" Davies on The Last Detective, as well as a regular supporting role on Law & Order UK (taking over as director of crown prosecutions). He made guest appearances on Magnum, P.I., two different Miss Marple series, Tales of the Unexpected, and Grantchester.
