Paul Shaffer (b. 1949) is a musician, bandleader, and occasional actor, best known for his long-term stint as sidekick/bandleader on Late Night and The Late Show with David Letterman and his earlier work on Saturday Night Live. Shaffer guest starred on Shalom Sesame, in "Kids Sing Israel," appearing on a video monitor to request a Hebrew song.

Aside from his long term work on Saturday Night Live and Late Night, Shaffer was a music consultant for Gilda Radner's Broadway show Gilda Live, voiced Hermes in Disney's Hercules, appeared in Blues Brothers 2000, the 1996 series Flash Gordon, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and was a celebrity contestant on Jeopardy!.
