PERFORMER | Jerry Nelson |
DEBUT | 1975 |
P. Fenton Cosgrove was an early version of Waldorf who appeared in the Muppet Meeting Films "Muppet Introduction" and "Just a Few Announcements." An absent-minded company executive with an affinity for napping, Mr. Cosgrove served on a panel with Sam the Eagle, Kermit the Frog, and an early version of Janice.
In "Just a Few Announcements," Mr. Cosgrove owned a white Eldorado with Delaware license plates. While Cosgrove slumbers during Janice's announcements, the car, which contains the only copy of the company's plans, is destroyed.
Jerry Nelson also performed the puppet for a 1975 appearance on the Cher show. In 1976, before he was established as a resident heckler on The Muppet Show, he appeared on Des O'Connor Entertains (performed by John Lovelady), where he was named "Conrad Waldorf" and described by Kermit as a retired tycoon.
