NRK

NRK is the abbreviation for Norsk Rikskringkasting (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), the first broadcast company in Norway. They started radio broadcast in 1925. NRK is an independent, license-financed public institution. Beside running the TV channel NRK1 they also have 3 nation wide radio stations and a small number of internet radio stations. In 1995 they started a second channel named NRK2, theres currently plans for NRK3 to start in 2007.

In 1991 NRK showed the first episode of Sesam Stasjon, the Norwegian co-production of Sesame Street that ended in 1999.

The channel has also aired Bjørnen i det Store Blå Huset, Fragglene, Dinosaurs and The Muppet Show.

NRK's exhibit center in Marienlyst has Alfa on display.
