Randy tries to win a Kermit in "Monkeys in Space"

My Name Is Earl is an Emmy Award-winning American sitcom created by Greg Garcia. It is currently in its second season and is broadcast on NBC. The series stars Jason Lee (Earl), Ethan Suplee (Randy), Jaime Pressly (Joy) and Eddie Steeples (Darnell). The show focuses on Earl Hickey, a petty crook with occasional run-ins with the law that decides he wants to turn his life around. Earl made a list of all the bad things he's done, and works to cross items off that list, one-by-one, by doing good deeds to atone for each bad thing.

Muppet Mentions

  • In the episode "Barn Burner" (originally aired January 5, 2006), Earl and Randy try to get a live rat out of a claw machine. While discussing their strategy for capturing the critter, Randy says that the best bet is to sneak up on him while he's humping a Grover doll. After they get him out, Earl says the rat looks angry and it bites Randy to which Randy says "maybe I should have let him finish his business with Grover before I took him".

  • In the episode "Monkeys in Space" (originally aired January 26, 2006) Randy is seen trying to get a Kermit doll out of the Crab Shack's claw machine. After several attempts he goes to Earl to get for more money to keep playing. When Earl says no, Randy protests saying "but you're the one that told me to go after Kermit. He's got those skinny legs; he's not a cheap Muppet to claw!" Later in the episode Randy tells Earl he is thinking of getting a job stating "I should get a job so you don't have to support me anymore. You know, paying for my food and Muppets and whatnot." Aside from the Kermit doll, a Piggy and Beaker doll are also seen in the claw machine.

  • In the episode "Very Bad Things" (originally aired September 21, 2006), Joy comments that Earl's British accent "sounds like a gay Kermit the Frog".

  • In the closing discussion of the episode "Robbed a Stoner Blind" (originally aired November 16, 2006), Randy and Earl philosophize who would win in a fight:
Randy: Hey Earl.
Earl: Yeah, Randy.
Randy: Who do you think would win in a fight -- Muppets or Sesame Street?
Earl: I don't really think they'd fight; they're both pretty peaceful.
Randy: What if they had to, like in that head-chopping-off movie where there could be only one?
Earl: Muppets.
Randy: Okay. Muppets or Fraggles?
Earl: Muppets.
Randy: Okay. What about Muppets or He-Man?
Earl: Just He-Man, or He-Man and his friends?
Randy: Just He-Man.
Earl: Muppets.
Randy: That's who I had.
