"My Favorite Things," from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, is a song about overcoming one's fears and is similar in theme to one of the composers' other songs, "I Whistle a Happy Tune." In the stage musical, "My Favorite Things" is sung by the Mother Superior to Maria as she leaves the abbey for good, but the song is most associated with Julie Andrews, who sang it as Maria to the von Trapp children in the film version. The song has been performed by the Muppets on several occasions.
The Muppet Show
- performed by Gonzo on episode 512. Gonzo sings a verse of "My Favorite Things" when Kermit expresses his frustrations with skiers on crutches and chickens on springs. The line is meant to echo the song's lyrics, which include "raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" and "wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings."
Muppets Tonight
- performed by Miss Piggy and Michelle Pfeiffer on episode 101. A portion of "My Favorite Things" is sung by the two competing guest stars during The Sound of Music medley in the finale.
