Jane Henson opening the 2006 Exhibit

From May 19 to September 4, 2006, The Smithsonian Institution featured an exhibit of characters from a number of Jim Henson's productions on loan from The Jim Henson Company.

The exhibit, divided into three displays at the American History Museum section, featured nine puppets from the original Sam and Friends show along with Pierre the French Rat; a display of characters puppeteered by Jim Henson including Dr. Teeth, Rowlf the Dog, a 1969 Kermit, and Jim; and animatronic figures and mechanisms from The Dark Crystal and Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. Jane Henson opened the exhibit.
