The Muppets Tonight Writers are responsible for all of the scripted wackiness on Muppets Tonight. They are seen in episode 211.
There was a bit of confusion when Andie MacDowell suggested a sketch where she would play a "southern belle." The writers wrote her as a church bell and as a southern bellhop, among others. When they finally got it right, Kermit allowed them time to touch the monolith.
