Jim Henson's Muppet Treasury Book 1 is a collection of Muppet Babies stories and activities. The stories are reprinted, and slightly condensed, from the various Weekly Reader titles. Interspersed are nursery rhymes from Big Book of Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales and new activity pages and character profiles.

The book is similar in structure not only to the The Sesame Street Library/Treasury series but also to Muppet Magazine (and shared many staff members with the latter). Recurring elements include "Gonzo's Scrapbook," a collection of oddball photographs around a theme, in the same mold as "Gonzo's Weirder Than Me" from Muppet Magazine. Other elements include "Baby Fozzie's Jokes," "Scooter and Skeeter's Recipes," and various craft pages.

Although the volume is subtitled "Book 1," there is no record of a second volume.
