To correspond with the theatrical release of Muppet Treasure Island, a mini-radio was offered as a promotional item by the Hershey company. To receive the radio, it was necessary to send in labels from Amazin' Fruit, which was being packaged for the movie as well.

The blue and yellow plastic mini-radio measured 7.25 inches by 3.25 inches and ran on 4 "AA" batteries. It featured AM/FM reception. The front showed an image of Kermit the Frog as Captain Smollett, the Muppet Treasure Island logo, and the Amazin' Fruit logo.
