Mr. Maestro is an orchestra conductor. In the 1981 LP Big Bird Discovers the Orchestra, he hires Big Bird to find it for him. Mr. Maestro speaks with a soft German or Austrian accent, of the sort stereotypically associated with classical composers and conductors. He is very distressed by the loss, but relieved when Big Bird succeeds.

Mr. Maestro sings the solo "Me and My Baton." He is so impressed by Big Bird's efforts that he conducts the orchestra in a new piece composed just for him: "Big Bird's Heroica Symphony No. 3 in E-flat, Opus 55."
