Milton, is a green-eyed, yellow toad. Milton is among the last of the Golden Toad, and as such, finds it difficult to meet potential mates. In The Song of the Cloud Forest, Milton searches for another golden toad.
Later, when Jim Henson began working on the show W.I.L.D., a slightly altered version of Milton was planned to be used as a character on the show.
In the 1990's, a slightly reworked version of the Milton puppet appeared in the The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss in Episode 101: The Gink in the song Don't Get a Gink.
Background
The Golden Toad (Bufo periglenes) was a real Toad species that inhabited the cloud forests of Costa Rica. The species became extinct in 1989, the same year the special was aired.
