PERFORMER | Dave Goelz |
DEBUT | 1989 |
Milton, is a green-eyed, yellow toad. He is among the last of the golden toads, and as such, finds it difficult to meet potential mates. In The Song of the Cloud Forest, Milton searches for another of his kind, ultimately finding Ruth.
When Jim Henson began developing W.I.L.D. as a new series, Milton was among a number of ancillary characters planned to be used on the show.
In the 1990s, a reworked version of the Milton puppet appeared in The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss episode "The Gink" for the song "Don't Get a Gink". It would later be donated to the Birthplace of the Frog museum in Leland, Mississippi.
Background[]
The golden toad (Bufo periglenes) was a real species that inhabited the cloud forests of Costa Rica. The species was classified as extinct in 1989, the same year Song of the Cloud Forest aired.
