Michael Dukakis is the former governor of Massachusetts and the Democratic Party candidate for President of the United States in 1988. He lost the election to George H. W. Bush.

On episode 106 of Muppets Tonight, Johnny Fiama appears in visions to Sal Manilla as Tony Bennett sings "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." In one of these visions, Johnny berates Sal for having voted for Dukakis.
