Michael Cooney is a folksinger, musician, storyteller and humorist. He appeared in episode 0033 during the first season of Sesame Street.

Cooney's personal account of his appearances on the Street include singing "T for Texas" to Oscar the Grouch, as well as a lullaby with the kids. Unsure as to how CTW "discovered" him, Cooney received a call asking him to appear on the show, and according to Cooney he was even offered the role which eventually went to Bob McGrath.^[1]
