Michael Coleman was a ballet dancer with the Royal Ballet (at the Royal Opera House of Covent Garden). With fellow Royal Ballet veteran Graham Fletcher, Coleman appeared in The Muppet Show episode 318, dancing as Mutations with Leslie Uggams.

Coleman's stage dance performances included Romeo and Juliet (with Rudolf Nureyev), Giselle, and Cinderella. In film, Coleman appeared in Tales of Beatrix Potter (as Jeremy Fisher) and The Slipper and the Rose, and played Drosselmeier in a televised performance of The Nutcracker.
