Hi Joe! Scott said that you haven't been getting e-mails lately, so I want to find out what's up. Is it just Message Wall e-mails that you're not getting, or any watchlist e-mails at all?
I stopped getting Watchlist notifications a while ago. I just don't have the time to keep a close eye on the "Minor Comics Mentions" article or whatever. But yeah, the Wall emails stopped a few weeks ago. And my lateness to replying to this message is an example of that.
Update: Still no email alerts. When I logged in to the Wiki, I had that big "You have a new message!" banner, but it took me to my old talk page, despite the fact that the message was on my "Message Wall".
That's very strange -- you shouldn't ever be seeing that new message banner. You're using Monobook, right? I just switched to Monobook and triggered a notification, and I got the normal Message Wall notification... What happens if you switch to the new skin?
Also, about the e-mails... Can you check what's in your preferences? Does it say your e-mail address is verified?

I wonder if the notification message could be left from before we switched to message wall; if you go to your talk page (such as it is) does the message banner come back again later?? anyhow, you might also check whether you have checked to "unsubscribe from all emails" in your preferences, along with what your settings actually are for notifications...
I didn't get the message banner this time.. maybe it was a one-time fluke?
My email address is correct in my preferences, and the only two checked boxes are "Enable email from other users" and "Email me when my user talk page is changed".
Hey Joe -- go to the "Followed Pages" tab. In the first group of options (the basic ones) the last two are message wall notifcations. Make sure you have those checked. I am not 100% sure, but I think you may also need "Email me when a page I follow is changed" set to true both there and in your main email options (on the My Info page) as well. At least, that is how mine are set. I actually don't have it set to email me for talk page changes because I always just followed my talk page.
Those first two are already checked, but I'm not sure I want to check "Email me when a page I follow is changed" unless I want to unfollow every page. That's just too many emails.
You can unfollow everything at once if you want to go that route. But it is a drawback if you like to follow pages as well. I don't follow many pages so it works for me. Maybe Danny can check how he has his set.
Yup, got it. Right now, you only get Message Wall e-mails if you have both "Email me when someone replies on Message Wall" and "Email me when a page I am following has changed". I just tested out just having one and then the other -- neither worked. D'oh!!
So -- it took us almost two weeks to figure out this bug -- so both of you are awesome for sticking with this dull conversation long enough to figure out the problem. I'll get it fixed. :) Thank you!
This message wall will take some getting used to. I saw this and thought, "Wait, since when did they make a Muppet of the Thundarr character who was a poor man's Chewbacca?"
It's not supposed to work that way. Although actually I find it easy to pick out the message wall entries as they are the only ones where the title is the first thing on the line in recent changes.
Huge plus though? The notification system via the dialogue balloon and the numbers, making it so much easier to keep track even across pages. Which of course was the intent. So hooray!
