I don't recreate pages that get deleted. If you delete them. Then I get the message that it's not needed.
I see a lot of red flags go up here. I think this is one of the scrictest wikis I've ever seen. I upload a bunch on pictures, and I get a message, "Why did you upload these pictures? Some of them have already been uploloaded." Although it wasn't rudely said or anything, I just don't get it. Does it take up room. Am I wasting Cyberspace?. (There's no such thing).
But this case. There are no pages with puppeteers and what they perfrom. A person like me comes on this wiki and wants to see what certain performers perform. For example, I want to see ALL the puppets that Frank Oz performed on Sesame Street. But there's no page like that. I have to try to figure out by myself.
Exactly. For the record, all Muppeteer Credits (and usually character roles) are listed at the bottom of each Muppet Performer's page. We also have Muppeteers and their characters, and while it doesn't list every performer's characters, it's visually interesting and it at least gives readers an idea of the diverse amount of Muppets they've played. With that in mind, creating a singular page that just lists every single performer's characters wouldn't be necessary since it would consist of repeated information (applying to our notability policy).
And, just to clarify, the question I asked last week was only largely out of curiosity; it wasn't really a big deal. What caught my eye was that there were a whole bunch of pictures you had uploaded, many of them looked like duplicates, so I thought I'd ask. While the norm is that any unused or unneeded pictures are deleted, I see nothing wrong with storing whichever ones you like on your user page.

Okay, just making sure. As a side note, the pic with Sam as Captain America was already uploaded a while ago and is featured on both the Sam the Eagle and Marvel pages. Also, I'm not sure if the Captain America page you created is necessary, as it's content is that one parody poster which is also noted elsewhere. I'll bring it up on the talk page for discussion though.
That's a good point. I guess maybe because it's a film that isn't associated to anything as closely as Captain America is with Marvel. That's my best argument. Still, I might check into redirecting that page as well, so thanks for bringing that up.
Basically, it's because we already covered all of the Captain America info on Marvel Comics, where any and all Marvel comics with just one reference are covered (those with more extensive involvement, like Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, get their own pages) and we've used the same policy in approaching other stuff (for example, references on The Walt Disney Company). For The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there's the poster and a trailer spoof, so two items, and nowhere else to put it. So basically that's the distinction, that we try not to duplicate info which already is or can be housed on other pages (we've often merged pages to provide the most effective coverage). Alfred Hitchcock covers all the references to his films, but Grumpy Old Men gets its own page.
And no, they've been there awhile (Green Lantern since November), but sometimes search engine can be tricky or a matter of using the right string. If you need help finding anything, or want to know if something already exists, feel free to ask an admin (or start a conversation on Category talk:Movie References). It takes awhile to get the hang of things, and we have our own way of organizing things (in general, Category:References is the umbrella category for any spoofs or references the Muppets do of other stuff; Category:Muppet Mentions is for when other shows or people spoof or reference Muppets, like The Simpsons). For both DC and Marvel, it's happened both ways, which is why we keep them on the same page unless we have multiple references where it would make more sense to split off. Hope this helps!
And yeah, redirects when a page covers multiple related titles are always good, since we do want people to find things (we may try using anchored links, like we do on some pages, at some point, to go straight to the reference). So give us a heads up if you think of other examples like that. Thanks for the help!
I didn't want you to be discouraged that we deleted your page for the "pass it on" billboards. The information is actually already on the wiki with The Foundation for a Better Life. Also remember to keep any of your edits at a neutral point of view! :)
I don't get it, I'm checking the Wanted Pages page and I was going to make a page on Cartoon Network, since it says it's wanted there. But then I finf out it was previously deleted several times. Are these pages wanted or not?
Basically, Wanted Pages means something is redlinked. But in the case of Cartoon Network, it was deleted ut the redlinks weren't removed. Also, the last deletion in fact was never discussed. Still, the only major connection was that they co-produced and aired Big Bag, and a couple pilots were announced and never aired. That was it. There's a discussion on Talk:Sci Fi which discusses when to create a page for a network.
Wanted Pages isn't a list we create or control, it's automatically generated. On the other hand, in most cases it *is* because nobody got around to it. So if it has been deleted, the links should be removed. If it was never created and is linked on pages and it's clear there's actual info to create (about a character or actor, beyond just a sentence or basic summaries already included on other pages), then feel free to create. That probably sounds more complicated than it is. But generally, if you're interested in making a page, go ahead, and if you're not sure if it belongs, create a talk page ([[Talk:Page name]]). Since talk pages aren't something casual visitors go to when they click "Random page" or through other links, it's okay to park info or ask "Is this enough info for a page?" there. We've done it often.
I'd raise it on the talk page first for Cartoon Network, since as I indicated, we've increasingly stopped creating pages for networks just because of connections (we don't have a Comedy Central page either, nor do we really need it). I personally have no problem with recreating it (I'm not the one who deleted it) but it's also not a huge loss since the main relevant fact (that they co-produced and aired Big Bag) is on the Big Bag page. Bring it up for discussion and we can see what the consensus is.
But for anything else, go ahead. A good tip is to check how many pages link to a page. Usually (unless as in some cases, it's a user page or sandbox page which was deleted when the issue was resolved, but never unlinked or redirected) the more pages that link to something, the more likely the page is indeed wanted and it's just that nobody got around to it.
