Hi, Andrew. I see that you deleted my page about A.M. Goat on the pretext that she wasn't named. This is not true. Her name was given by an offscreen announcer at the beginning of the sketch. And, while it's true that she's the same puppet as the goat that we typically see, it's not necessarily the same character. And at any rate, she's memorable enough for her own page as far as I'm concerned. I think we should reconsider the deletion you made.
Hi, Garrett. Is she actually called "A. M. Goat?" It sounds like you're using that as a shorthand for Anything Muppet, which wouldn't apply anyway since it's not an Anything Muppet pattern (and you have a tendency to make up names, as you did with "The Conceited Shoe.") And Danny and other admins have discussed this with you before. You didn't even include an eka for when this skit appeared. No performer, no image... So no, it's all info that can be bundled into the page, and really shouldn't just be a description of the skit. (Again, we've had this discussion with you many times over the years).
Edit: Okay, I found it and the introduction as "Ms. A. M. Goat," so that helps a little, but you'd have to make that clearer, and I'm still not convinced. I found two episodes with that skit, which is a rider to a cartoon, so it's better to just expand that skit listing (which is also advice we've given you before). In fact, I just did so on those two pages. (If we ever make a song page for the 0 song which precedes it, we could also mention it there, since it was added specifically to comment on that insert).
Well, I don't fully agree with this message. First of all, I know that animals don't count as Anything Muppets unless they're made from one of the familiar patterns. As you say you found out, she is introduced as A.M. Goat. As for the details I hadn't included, I left out the earliest known episode because I don't usually see that on character pages; more often on those regarding songs or skits. I'm not very good at inserting pictures as they usually turn out rather filmsily. And I didn't put in a performer because I'm not sure who it is. My first guess is Louise Gold, but as you have said, we can't go by guesses. Anyway, I just added the page. Anyone is free to add missing details to it. I thought I'd get it started and let my fellow users improve it.
I'd also like to say a few words about my previous conceited shoe page. I know she wasn't specifically referred to that way onscreen. But she definitely was conceited. Some things go without saying. I put that word in as a personality trait, not as an official name. I thought a title like that would get people's attention more than mere "shoe".
I just thought I'd better respond to clear a few things up. Think we might bring back my goat page?
You titled the page that way, Garrett, as "The Conceited Shoe" so it looked like an official name. Our policy (here, in case you missed or forgot) is not to add things like "The" or an adjective if it's not part of the name as sourced by dialogue, credits, book text, etc. (and it's really a subjective opinion; the point of the sketch in fact is not that she's conceited, which implies high self-opinion, so much as stubborn and strong-willed, as part of the whole Taming of the Shrew parody, that she won't do what Grover wants her do, which isn't the same as being conceited; a third person might even want to use a different adjective to describe her, so again that's exactly why we don't do that unless they're actually called such in the sketch). Any disambig should be done instead by source (i.e. "Shoe (Taming of the Shoe)" or "Shoe (Monsterpiece Theater)" etc.)
So that's why I didn't trust you on "A. M. Goat" And it's still not really worth a page on its own. If you want to bring it up with Danny or another admin, feel free, but it really is a case like others we've discussed with you, where if you find the description is turning into a sketch summary and there's a home for it, then expand the sketch summary (given how minimal this is, that's all that's needed), or as I've also said twice, add a shorter version of what you wrote to Goat (Sesame Street), which could benefit from more instances anyway.
Also a tip for next time: please at least try to find an eka or something so we're not using Google (which is what I did) and then YouTube to try to find what you're talking about. There wasn't even a way to verify the season.
This isn't personal, Garrett, and remember we've merged a lot of pages and become more exacting in our standards than when we started (this isn't the first page of this kind, from you or anyone, to be merged, and it won't be the last, so it's not "your" page being targeted, just pages that clearly don't stand well on their own for a variety of reasons). There's no shame in expanding a character's details on a sketch or video page. See Billy Bunny's Animal Songs where there's a table for a slew of named characters with identifiable performers, most of whom had more screen time than the goat in the one filler piece, which also only makes sense in context of its use to follow the cartoon insert. So again, it doesn't really work as a character page; if we can figure out via one of the music databases the *name* of that 0 cartoon song, then it would qualify for a song page, and we could discuss the "opposing viewpoint" skit on the same page. So in short, there's three options in this instance (add details to the goat page, expand the skit description and I already did that, and if we ever find title and writer info to create a song page). All of which also go into the overall policy which is to provide more info with each link. If you still disagree, though, feel free to bring it up with any of the other admins or on the forum, but as you can see, it mostly is a matter of policy and you really do have plenty of options to write about the character (or, really, the skit, which is how it read.)
It was a test created well after International Bert, when Danny wanted to see something different (I never really liked the gallery format for that though; I think it works nicely for cast lists, like on Die Reise ins Labyrinth, but not for the most part). See Talk:International Character Translations. Some of the info and images on there still haven't been incorporated into the main page. It's been a horrid few days (work problems including a breakdown while on a call, Mom has osteoporosis and is trying to schedule surgery for a broken femur) but I hope to get to it by say Tuesday.
Well, I'm living with the folks so Mom's right nearby. It started in January when she fell (and she was already really worn down then, which is why it happened), but at first we thought nothing was broken (she may have reinjured when trying to "make" herself walk right again on a cane; she really does do too much, but now that she's been diagnoses, she *knows* she can't, so it's a combination of both her stopping rather than just pushing herself as she's used to [I forget if I told you she's a cancer survivor and had chemo/radiation, so she'd just trained herself to get used to the pain and go on, so it took longer to hit her that this was different!] Then problems getting a doctor (the old doctor retired, then had to find one which Medicare would cover/allow, etc.)... I've been doing shopping and helping (it's actually become a sort of running joke for us that Mom tends to forget her pillow in the living room at night, so I gladly fetch it), but we don't know when the surgery is (and she has a dread of hospitals, in part because the chemo/radiation left her with sort of claustrophobic "closed in" feelings). But at least we know what it is and pray/hope that we'll get an appointment soon (the osteoporosis will be a longer adjustment, but both Dad and I needed to be doing more around the house anyway) and some time this week I hope to take Mom out (outside of appointments, she hasn't been out of the house since January when she fell) to a used bookstore, since she's run out of reading material and will need it in hospital (she's not a TV person, and a bookstore visit will be good therapy for her, but it's a matter of figuring out when she's fully up to it). We'll watch some Perry Masons before she goes in though (she does like that, she just can't just sit and watch TV, and unless it's the Olympics, she wants it to be something she *likes* and can watch with someone). We're also hoping it will mostly be in and out, or at most a couple of days, so keep toes crossed! But right now we're waiting for them to schedule it, so we're all a bit in suspense until then.
Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but gosh, I had no idea all this was going on! I won't be able to get to my e-mail until Tuesday, but please let me know if you need anything. Maybe I can mail her a book or something. Anyway, thanks for sharing the details!
Thanks, Ken! Just keep us in your prayers (and when you do get to e-mail, be sure to respond about your package; Mom sent something in there with a special note just from her). She had a better day mostly and we just enjoyed a good "Perry Mason." It's mostly the waiting and figuring out how to schedule around things, including work (for now at least; I'm not sure how long that will last either).
I feel like episode 2943 should go back in the Episode Guide category. I don't think we have a set rule on incomplete guides being categorized like that, and there's a number of guides with the Incomplete template that are still in the category. I think that if the guide is substantial enough and has images for everything available, it should count. Episode 3170 really shouldn't go in the category. Plus, there's things like pledge episodes and the Noggin edits that make them just as incomplete.
Hey, Aleal, thanks for recommending the program to me on Scarecroe's wall. I downloaded it, and cropped out most of the border screen. However, my trouble is repositioning the picture to the top left. If you can help me with that, I would be most grateful.
Can you upload the version just as you have it now, just so I can see what you mean? Normally just cropping to remove the surrounding should result in the picture being by itself. It may not look that way in Irfanview because of the surrounding black, or you may need to save and reopen the file first. If it's something else, I'd need to see it.
Okay, I see it. You should be able to just use Irfanview and choose "Crop" again and just select around the image (use Irfanview to save it as a JPG). If you're pasting from there back to Paint, then that's the problem.
In fact, I'll give you a step by step visual tutorial (it might also help to resize the image first next time, after the first cropping out of the rest of your screen, but I'll show you how to do that too). Huge files.
As you can see, I've selected the frame, and also chosen "Crop selection" again from the menu.
Then, you resize it. Wiki images should appear on pages at 300px for the width. If you think a specific image has details that require it to be larger, resize as preferred, but the given size is a bit too big.
You either choose the "Image" tab on top and select "Resize/Resample" or even "Ctrl+R." (I didn't think it was necessary to screengrab that one. You do want to make sure the option "Preserve aspect ratio (proportional)" is checked, or else it will distort when you change dimensions. I cut it down from 900px width to 600px but it remains proportional. The black you see at this point is nothing that will appear when you save the file and upload it to the Wiki, just empty space.
I could just recrop, resize and re-upload the final product, and if you still need help I'd be happy to oblige. But I thought you might want to do it yourself first.
Thought you'd like this little reference. My latin's just a little rusty (non-existent), so I'm not sure if "Ovis Ovem Manet" is a reference to anything in particular. The Interwebs tell me that it might mean something like "Sheep Sheep Remain/Continue/Endure?"
Awwww, that is adorable! The original MGM logo had "Ars Gratia Artis" (Art for Art's Sake) in the Latin text spot. So the new Latin is just a cute bit to refer to Wolle while showing attention to detail as far as every aspect of the original logo.
Also, this seems appropriate for the old "March comes in like a lion and exits a lamb" saw.

As for the Latin part, I thought that it could've meant something like "Sheep Sheep Et Cetera" (as in "Sheep Sheep Sheep Sheep Sheep Sheep..."), but then they would have probably had it say either "Et Cetera" or "Ad Infinitum" to begin with. So, maybe there really isn't anything else to it other than character reference and attention to detail. Thanks!
I just watched a Touched by an Angel episode where *NSYNC appeared. So do they count as 1 person or 5 people on the Projects with Muppet Cast Connections page? It seemed weird to me to count a group as one "person", and all 5 of them were there, just like they were on Sesame Street.
Wow. That is a little tricky. Was it as themselves or in character parts? Since this is the connections list (I wouldn't recommend it on pages where we have full connections, i.e. people and roles played and episodes, it would just be clutter), I'd say use the same link but list for each member who appears, i.e. Justin Timberlake, etc. I think a couple of the lists on the page may already do that for bands.
They appeared in a couple of scenes as a group of street performers singing on the sidewalk, and the credits said "NSYNC as Street Performers". A couple of members had dialogue, but I don't know who is who. But since it was all of them, I thought we should count it as 5, and I guess I can use all of their names, and do a link like what you did above.
