Meet Big Bird's Orchestra is part of a series of Sesame Street books designed to introduce children to music concepts: in this case the concept is instrument sounds. In 1994, the concept was updated as Big Bird Meets the Orchestra, with a new plot illustrations, and updated characters.
In the story, Big Bird is the conductor of an orchestra consisting of a number of his friends from Sesame Street.
