"Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" is a song by Paul Simon that reached #9 on the 1972 Easy Listening Billboard chart.
On Sesame Street, he sang the song with a group of kids in season 8, sitting on the 123 Sesame Street steps (First: Episode 1050). One enthusiastic girl named Leslie[1] improvises her own lyrics during the instrumental sections, and joins in, if slightly off, during other portions. The performance was met with applause from the studio crew.
The original studio version of the song is used over the opening credits in The Muppets.
